Terry has over 25 years experience providing tax planning and compliance guidance to a wide range of businesses and individuals. He has extensive experience assisting clients in the oil and gas, real estate, construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and service industries. Terry also has broad experience counseling high net worth individuals about their complex income and estate tax planning issues. During his career, Terry has co-authored several tax planning books that are currently in print and used each day by thousands of tax advisors.

State Income Taxes: Analyzed the state income tax position of a business group operating in nine states with income tax laws. Developed and implemented a plan to take advantage of several tax minimization opportunities, saving the group over one million dollars.

Sales of Businesses: Successfully assisted in negotiations that resulted in the sales of several partnership investments valued at more than $350 million. Directly responsible for several changes in the sales agreements that increased the seller’s after tax values by more than $2.75 million.

Estate Planning: Developed an estate plan using a family partnership and several trusts, reducing the family’s estate tax burden by more than $10 million. This plan helped maintain the family business and ensure it could be passed to the third generation.

Cost Segregation Studies: Successfully assisted in purchase price allocations for acquisitions totaling more than $2 billion. Purchasers recovered their investments over substantially reduced periods, increasing the after tax values of their investments by more than $25 million.

Terry received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Economics from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Terry is a member of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
