Professional Experience
Eric is partner in charge of KBA’s Tax division as well as the Firm's professional recruiting efforts. He has more than 20 years of diversified tax experience primarily in corporate and individual taxation with a practice concentration in entity selection, merger and acquisition structure, and complex corporate issues.
Recent Engagements
Income and Estate Tax Planning: Completed the major tax restructuring of a family held business. The engagement involved formation of several new entities that resulted in huge income and estate tax savings for the family members.
Franchise Tax Planning: Restructured the legal entities of several clients to minimize state franchise taxes. Such restructuring resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in franchise tax savings for these clients.
Internal Revenue Service Representation: Successfully negotiated numerous audit engagements with the Internal Revenue Service resulting in the removal of several hundred thousand in assessments. The successful negotiations were a direct result of years of experience dealing with the IRS.
Education
Eric graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering and later received his Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Affiliations
Eric is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the Dallas CPA Society. He also serves as a member of Polaris International's Sales and Use Tax Task Force. In addition, Eric is on the executive advisory council of the Accounting and Information Management (AIM) school at the University of Texas at Dallas. |
